I have been in Rome for roughly 3.5 weeks now. I have gotten to see some really cool places like the Colosseum and the Vatican. I've eaten gelato practically every day and it honestly never gets old. Lately Nutella and Lemon have been my favorite flavors :) I have not really been homesick while I've been away; really only on the off chance I get sick and then just want the easy access to Advil like in the US (man I miss CVS). This probably attributes to going to school in Florida and not always having my parents or family right next all the time.

Besides missing my family and friends in the US, I quite honestly miss the food. I have eaten so many amazing meals in Europe and not to say they are not delicious, it is just that nothing really compares to Buffalo wings from Mr. Takeout, Mac and Cheese from Panera, and my guilty please, chili with cheese from Wendy's (don't knock it til ya try it!). All of these foods probably have endless amounts of sodium and fat within them, but are just so delicious I am counting down the days til I eat a good, real buffalo chicken wing.

For the past 3 weeks specifically, I have strictly eaten pasta and pizza. Both staples of Italy, there is not a restaurant that I pass that does not serve either of the two eatables. Sorry to complain about my vacation lifestyle, I mean what a nice problem to have.

To update you on the past couple of weeks, basically I have been attached to my room sick the past couple of days (slight cold nothing too bad) and I had a friend visit over the weekend. I got to see Pope Francis at Papal's Audience last Wednesday which was really cool and a once in a lifetime opportunity. I also attended a pizza making class yesterday that was amazingly spectacular in itself I can't begin to describe how good the pizza was. The workers were just too nice and so willing to help me build the perfect margarita pizza. I took my friend, who was visiting from a different CIEE location in Paris, to all the sight seeing places in Rome and we even got to go to the Magnum ice cream shop where we made our own Magnum bar. It was super good! Overall not a bad few weeks on my journey, just a lot of pizza and pasta lol. This weekend I am traveling to Florence and Pisa so check back in for the cheesy pictures with the leaning tower of Pisa!

xoxo, j
