I have not had much to write about this week so this update might be a little short. This past week I had a project for Spanish class and so many papers for my Intercultural class I can't count! It is all good though because I know when it comes down to it I am still here in Madrid for school.

I am now half way through my time here in Madrid and I can't believe it! It has seriously flown by. In the midst of my homework and project I has the chance to go see a Real Madrid game. I went on Thursday night and it was super warm out considering it is winter here. Real Madrid played Girona and ending up winning 4-2. It was crazy especially because there were two penalty kicks during the game (one for each team).

The most interesting part of going to watch futbol was the spectators. Everyone is so intense watching the game and the only time they get loud are when a goal is scored (duh) and when there are fouls. Usually in the US fans are loud and rowdy the entire game. Here, that is really just the designated fan section that act like that. Everyone else was generally quiet and just watched. I thought it was super interesting and totally a cultural difference. One of my friends I attended the game with is from Italy and she explained that it is generally like this at any European game. The way I interpreted the quietness was as respect for the sport. Just like how in golf everyone is quiet or when a basketball player goes for a free throw people start to quiet down. That is generally respectful in the US as is the attitude at a futbol game in Europe. Overall I really enjoyed my experience at the game and want to try and maybe see another one in the next couple weeks. This week I have a lot of work to do for school but want to try and see more of the city as I have limited time left!
