So I'm pretty sure that today I walked father than I ever have in my entire life. No joke. My day started by walking the entire way to school which was a good couple miles, then walking later to lunch, then to the shops, then back home, then to the grocery store, and the list goes on. Not really, but that all felt like a lot today!

I started my Spanish class today which consisted of a pre-test that I totally flunked. Good thing it was not graded! My Spanish teacher laughed because I wrote in English and not Spanish on the test but it was fine as I explained that I had never taken Spanish before and I just wrote in Spanish what I could. That only consisted of numbers (haha). I did discover that I could understand a lot more Spanish than I though during the oral pre-test but I could only respond in English to my teacher, oh well! After Spanish Brenna and Emily and I found a dive bar restaurant that had tacos. This tiny place was so cute and we had the best "nachitos" ever. Literally ever. The only girl working was a girl Stephanie from Belize and good thing Brenna and Emily know Spanish because Stephanie did not know any English. Through my friends talking to her, I learned she loves American music, but she does not know what the lyrics are saying. After eating nachos and tacos Stephanie wanted to take pictures so we wore her sombrero hats and were given free tequila shots! I was shocked as it was only 2 pm! The shot was mango flavored and she explained how you sip it and it was surprisingly really good! Totally going back there again!

My friends and I explored the center more and went into one of the pharmacies there. In the pharmacies you can order some medication you would need a prescription for in the US among other items. It was so interesting to see what they had "locked up" like CeraVe face cleanser versus what was not. We also went to a store similar to a Sears where Brenna searched for a hair straightener. The store was 9 floors and even had a dental office inside it.

Once I came home, Carmen took me to the supermarket in our neighborhood. I thought it was one of the coolest things I had done while in Madrid haha! The market was two floors which I have never seen before in the US. The first floor was similar to a farmer's market where different people had permanent stands. Some had fish, some meat, some vegetables, some olives etc. It was so cool because you could go a pick your meat and say how much you want and how you want it cut and they do it for you right there. There was also a shoe repair place on the second floor which are almost extinct in the US. The second floor was more like a US market but it was much more health oriented. Instead of all the unhealthy foods being highly displayed, the healthy foods like fruits were displayed in front. It was so interesting to see the differences even in the regular market. Oh, there was even a bar on the first floor! Super cool. I picked up a notebook at a office supplies store which was weird because the notebook is in metric units so its much longer than an American notebook. The rest of the night I relaxed as I was so tired from soooooo much walking. Come back tomorrow for more adventures!

xoxo, j
